Reflective Hammock Ridgelines

    • Keeps the hammock lay just right
    • Reflective tracers shine light back at night
    • Very low stretch, ultralight yet super strong Catzye™ Reflective Line
    • Performs better than Lash-It/Zing-It
    • Fixed or adjustable lengths

A ridgeline is used to control and maintain the desired sag of a hammock. The depth of the sag determines how flat you will lay in the hammock. Once set to your preferred length, connecting the two end points of a hammock, it will maintain the same sag every time you use the hammock.

Reflective Ridgelines are made from Catzye™ which uses Trevo™ Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) fiber. The same type of fiber used for Dyneema® or Spectra®. Trevo is super strong and has very low stretch, making it perfect for ridgelines.

So what makes this different from all other ridgelines? ….. ours have reflective tracers. Shine light on the ridgeline and the tracers reflect it right back. The tighter 12-strand construction makes it more snag-resistant than 8 strand Lash-It/Zing-It. And a slick polyurethane coating makes adjustment easy.

Our ridgelines are available in either fixed or adjustable lengths. Fixed Ridgelines have a 3 in. (7.6 cm) fixed-eye loop spliced on each end. Use a larks head knot to attach one end to the hammock continuous loop and string the suspension through the other loop. If the ridgeline gets in the way of using the hammock for a chair, attach one end using a micro carabiner so it can be quickly removed for sitting.

Adjustable ridgelines are built like a whoopie sling. One end has a spliced fixed-eye loop and the other end an adjustable loop. When there’s no tension on the ridgeline, the loop adjusts freely. Apply weight to the hammock and the bury locks the loop like a Chinese finger trap and controls the sag. A plastic bead is included on the adjustable loop and the tail is backspliced so neither can accidentally be pulled through the bury.

Ideally, a ridgeline should be 83% of the hammock length to achieve the optimum hammock sag. So if you have a 10 ft hammock, your ridgeline should be 8.3 ft or 100 in. If you like to fiddle with your hammock to get the perfect lay, an adjustable ridgeline might be just what you’re looking for. Begin at 83% of your hammock length and adjust it from there.

    Hammock Length Recommended
    Fixed Adjustable
    9 ft (2.74 m) - 90-120 in. (21.3-30.5 cm)
    10 ft (3.05 m) 100 in. (25.4 cm) 90-120 in. (21.3-30.5 cm)
    11 ft (3.35 m) 110 in. (27.9 cm) 90-120 in. (21.3-30.5 cm)
    12 ft (3.66 m) - 90-120 in. (21.3-30.5 cm)

A ridgeline is also great to:

    • Clip a light
    • Hang a gear organizer
    • Dry out your wet socks
    • Hang a bug net

Trevo is manufactured by DSM Dyneema. Both Trevo and Dyneema are UHMWPE fibers with very similar properties. When braided into line, Catzye (Trevo) performs better than Lash-It/Zing-It (Dyneema) for hammock applications.

    • DO NOT use in situations where personal safety or valuable property could be endangered.
    • DO NOT hang a hammock above any objects that could cause injury if you fell on them. DO NOT hang a hammock higher than you can fall without injury while in the hammock.
    • Inspect all hammock components before each use. DO NOT use if signs of damage are apparent to the rope, splice, webbing, fabric, stitching, or hardware. When exposed to direct sunlight and outdoor elements, deterioration can occur.
    • DO NOT exceed the working load. When used under dynamic (stress, jerk) conditions, additional care must be exercised. These conditions can reduce the working load by as much as 33%.
    • DO NOT stand in line with rope under tension; it may recoil (snap back) unpredictably if released or broken.
    • Misuse can result in serious injury or death.

    1. Customized Ridge Line star rating

Posted by Oldsparkey on 9th Feb 2019

If you are not sure of which sized ( length ) ridge line to use this adjustable one is the Cat's Meow. You can adjust it to fit your comfort zone in the hammock instead of settling for a permanent length one. If you have several different length hammocks then this adjustable line can be transferred from one hammock to another.

    2. Excellent Adjustable Ridge line -- Just what I needed! star rating

This is a very nicely made adjustable ridge line with high reflective visibility in the dark. I was amazed at the reflection.
