Reflx™ Reflective GuyLine

$12.95
Qty
    • Very low stretch, ultralight Trevo™ UHMWPE core
    • Polyester cover so knots won't slip
    • Tangle resistant and knots are easy to tie and untie
    • Bright neon yellow color for day/night visibility
    • Reflective tracers shine light back at night

The strength of these guylines comes from the Trevo™ Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) core. UHMWPE has a strength-to-weight ratio 8-15 times higher than steel and is the same type of fiber used to make Dyneema® and Spectra®. By itself, UHMWPE is slippery so an abrasion-resistant polyester cover is added so knots won't slip out. Simply put, this is some of the lightest guyline available and it has a great hand.

In the dark, we find neon yellow actually more visible than orange. Shine a light on the line and the reflectors light up like a Christmas tree.

The 1.1 mm line is for those counting grams. The 2.3 mm line works especially well with the LineLoc 3 found on many tarps and tents. All three sizes can be adjusted using Line-Loks.

    The line is available in 50 & 100 ft (15.2 & 30.5 m) lengths.

    • DO NOT use to hold or restrain human or animal weight.
    • DO NOT use in situations where personal safety or valuable property could be endangered.
    • Inspect before each use. DO NOT use if signs of wear are apparent, such as cuts, broken fibers, unraveling, abrasion, discoloration, or other signs of wear. When exposed to direct sunlight and outdoor elements, deterioration can occur.
    • DO NOT exceed the working load. When used under dynamic (stress, jerk) conditions, additional care must be exercised. These conditions can reduce the working load by as much as 33%.
    • Avoid using knots if possible; splicing is preferable. Knots reduce the strength of the rope up to 50%.
    • DO NOT stand in line with rope under tension; it may recoil (snap back) unpredictably if released or broken.
    • DO NOT use to secure large flat objects that could lift or dislodge through buildup of air pressure underneath.
    • Misuse can result in serious injury or death.

    1. Bright line, Great for tent guy lines star rating

Posted by Victor Rivera on 12th Aug 2018

I use this for tieing out my tent rain fly. Lines are very reflective, almost seem to glow. Light weight and well made, bought another 50' again to use for an ultra light tarp shelter.

    2. Superb! star rating

Not only is this exactly what I was after for guy line usage for my tarp over my hammock, but the promptness of shipping and ease of buying is excellent!

I will use the quick loop on the Tarp instead of knots, so I am not concerned about knot removal.

    3. perfect guy line star rating

out of the package it's a bit stiff and I assume it'll loosen over time. I've used it with several types of linelocks but you have to be careful with the sizes. If you're a SUL hiker then you'd probably like the thinnest line, however, I didn't.

    4. Superb guy line star rating

Posted by Billy Gray on 14th Sep 2017

I've tried all manners of guy lines looking for one that I really like. The three criteria I've found I need are:

      1) Takes and holds a knot, prefer not to rely on doodads, UCR's, etc.
      2) Lightweight
      3) Reflective for finding camp and avoiding lines

This guy line meets all of these criteria. I was worried about two things:

      1) Would be difficult to knot
      2) Strength

I've camped a few times with it now and knots are not an issue. I like Farrimond hitches and they are no problem with this line and they hold just fine. I also camped on the very fringe of Irma with 20-40 mph gusts and though my tarp was blown right on my face quite frequently, the line held great with no sign that it came even close to breaking.

    5. Reflective and Strong star rating

This line is exactly as described. The 1.5mm is still fairly thin but feels incredibly solid. Meaning very little stretch if any at all. In low light the white on the line reflects light brightly making it easy to see. I'm impressed with this stuff and the service from Litesmith.
