Seam Grip+WP Instructions

Seam Sealing

  1. Temperature should be above 60° F (16° C). The higher the humidity, the faster it dries.
  2. Pitch tent/tarp tightly so all seams are taut.
  3. Apply outside or in a well-ventilated area. Wear gloves.
  4. Clean seams on a used tent/tarp with isopropyl alcohol.
  5. Using a brush or foam applicator, carefully apply a thin coat across the seams, making sure the seam sealer gets in all the stitching holes. For rolled seams, also apply to the small valley where the edge of the seam rolls under. You only need to seal the inside of a tent or underside of a tarp. You could seal the outside instead, but Seam Grip may yellow when exposed to UV. To seal a tent rainfly, set it up inside-out for easier application. Attach the rainfly to the tent so all seams are taut. Take your time to be neat. Seam Grip WP can be thinned with cure accelerator or toluene. Mixing with toluene will only dilute the adhesive, not help it cure faster.
  6. If a small section of seam tape has peeled, use Seam Grip WP to reattach it. If the tape seems to be failing everywhere, remove it and discard, then clean the seams with isopropyl alcohol and re-seal with Seam Grip WP.
  7. Seam Grip WP will dry and flake off hands in a few days. Help this process by washing hands with soap and water and wiping with a disposable rag to remove as much adhesive as possible. For easiest clean up, wear disposable gloves.
  8. Allow 8-12 hours to dry while the tent/tarp is still pitched taut. It may take longer in low humidity. Test for tack before folding or using. A light surface tackiness is normal on freshly-cured Seam Grip and will dissipate with use. Tack can be eliminated by dusting with unscented talcum powder.

Repair

  1. Temperature should be above 60° F (16° C). The higher the humidity, the faster it dries.
  2. Apply outside or in a well-ventilated area. Wear gloves.
  3. Clean around hole with isopropyl alcohol.
  4. Place clear tape on back side of fabric across hole.
  5. Squeeze a little glob of Seam Grip on a piece of paper.
  6. Using a brush, carefully apply a thin coat across the hole and 0.25 in. (6 mm) around. Take your time to be neat.
  7. Seam Grip WP will dry and flake off hands in a few days. Help this process by washing hands with soap and water and wiping with a disposable rag to remove as much adhesive as possible. For easiest clean up, wear disposable gloves.
  8. Keep level and allow 8-12 hours to dry. It may take longer in low humidity. Test for tack before folding or using. A light surface tackiness is normal on freshly-cured Seam Grip and will dissipate with use. Tack can be eliminated by dusting with unscented talcum powder.
  9. Remove clear tape from the back side of fabric.

Storage

  1. Squeeze the bottom of the tube to advance the contents to the neck while pushing air out.
  2. Wipe tube threads clean to prevent the cap from sticking and screw the cap on tightly.
  3. Seal the tube in a plastic zip-lock bag and store in a dry environment, like your freezer.
  4. When ready to use, run the tube under warm water for about a minute.
