Cross Bands are like having two bands in opposite directions to hold things together. Put it around the item(s) just like you would a rubber band, then separate the straps to form an X or plus. This spreads the holding power over a larger area. Super simple.
They’re made of silicone, the same material used on the famous yellow wrist bands. While moderately stretchy, they don’t age and wear out like rubber bands or elastic. And silicone is heat resistant, offering insulation from a hot pot.
Many trail uses:
- Keeps the lid on a cooking pot for packing
- Makes a bail for a small cooking pot/mug
- Compresses clothes and gear
Cross Bands are available in four different sizes – 4, 6, 9, 12 in. – to hold things from 8 to 34 in. circumference. They come in seven bright colors – yellow, orange, blue, red, green, purple, black – making them easy to find and hard to lose. You can choose a different color for each size if you wish.
Which size should you use? Measure the circumference around the item(s) you want to hold together using a sewing tape measure, or use a string and measure the length of the string with a ruler. Refer to the chart below and select the size that best matches your measured circumference.
