For those not so keen on drinking from disposable water bottes, we offer the original Nalgene® Ultralite bottles, designed back in the 1970s, a long-time backpacking favorite. Nalgene has been trusted for nearly 50 years for their durable water bottles made to last a lifetime. These tried and proven lightweight, leakproof bottles are an iconic classic that still stands strong amongst the best today. And incredibly the Ultralites are up to 40% lighter than the clear Nalgenes.

Ultralite bottles are made with super lightweight high-density polyethylene (HDPE) which is practically indestructible and has a long, safe track record. They are BPA/BPS free so you can drink water that’s safe and tastes great. Ultralite are the go-to Nalgene bottles when you’re packing light. Plus, they’re dishwasher safe for effortless clean up.

Wide mouth bottles are simpler to fill, accept ice cubes, and are easier to clean & dry out. The side of the bottles have graduations in both oz and ml. Rounded edges help to slide more easily in and out of bottle pockets. The cap is tethered so it can’t be lost, and the tether loop makes a great carry handle.

The smaller 16 oz (0.5 L) bottles are more comfortable to hold, slip easily into small bags and bottle pockets, plus fit in car cup holders. They're great for shorter day hikes/walks, gym, travel, commutes, or office hydration. The popular 32 oz (1 L) bottles are a hiker favorite. The tall Silo 48 oz (1.4 L) bottles work well for longer adventures.

    NICE!

Posted by Tammy on 8th Apr 2026

I used Nalgene bottles similar to these, when I first started backpacking in the 1980's. I'm old but still doing through hikes. LOL! These are a throwback for me. I got the 16 oz bottle. After a thorough wash, I noticed a plastic aftertaste in my water and considered returning it. Fortunately, I decided to clean it again with baking soda mixed with white vinegar, followed by another thorough washing. Wallah! It worked and the plastic aftertaste is gone, no matter how long I leave the water in it (up to 4 days now). I'm thinking about ordering the 32 oz or the 48 oz to possible replace my CNOC bottles. I know the Nalgenes are heavier, but the wide mouth Nalgene bottles are easier to clean.
