Proven® is a Picaridin-based, insect and tick repellent pump-spray that provides longer-lasting 12+ hour protection from mosquitoes and ticks, and 8+ hour protection from biting flies, stable flies, black flies, gnats, chiggers, sand flies, no-see-ums, and midges. Because Proven uses Picaridin instead of DEET, the spray is not sticky, oily, or greasy. And it won’t harm your clothing, fabrics, or gear. Picaridin is a synthetic compound derived from the natural compound piperine, found in the group of plants used to produce black pepper. Picaridin disrupts an insect’s sense of smell so you become invisible to them, providing protection from mosquitos that may transmit vector-borne diseases like West Nile Virus, Zika, Malaria, Yellow Fever, Encephalitis, Dengue, and Chikungunya and ticks transmitting diseases including Lyme Disease, Powassan Virus, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and Tularemia.
Proven is a 20% Picaridin formula that’s safe and effective, and DEET free. While DEET works effectively, it’s a neurotoxin with possible adverse health effects, has a strong, pungent odor, leaves an oily feel on the skin, absorbs at a higher rate into the skin, and is a plasticizer that damages clothing, plastics, and gear. Picaridin is approved by the EPA and recommended by the CDC and World Health Organization to provide long-lasting protection that is safe for adults, children over 2 months, pregnant/nursing women, and pets, when used as directed. - DO NOT apply directly on face. Apply on hand first then rub on face and neck. Avoid eyes and lips and use sparingly around ears.
