This compass has a liquid-filled capsule with a high-grade steel needle on a jewel bearing for stable operation. The needle is balanced for the northern hemisphere. The rotating bezel is marked in 2° increments and has a fixed declination scale to allow for manual declination compensation. There are no luminous markings on this compass.

The transparent baseplate has both inch and metric rulers with distance helpers. The back of the baseplate curves up to fit comfortably in your palm. The included quick-release lanyard detaches for working with a map.
