Backcountry GT Trekking Poles blend lightweight with rigidity, strength, and durability for demanding adventure. Optimized aluminum shafts offer superior durability yet low swing weight of just 7.3 oz (207 g) each for GT. Three telescoping segments adjust from 64 to 135 cm for GT with fast and secure flip-lock levers with aluminum clamps. Tension of the flip locks can be easily adjusted for no-slip performance without the use of tools. The two lower segments have graduated adjustment markings for consistently setting your perfect length.
The double-length dense foam grip is ergonomically designed to fit and support your hand. Grab below the grip on steeper inclines to effectively shorten the pole without making a length adjustment. Foam extends to the top with soft edges for a very comfortable thumb- or palm-top grip. The soft-back nylon wrist strap is easily adjustable by simply pulling on the strap. The straps are labelled L for left and R for right. Put on the strap by coming up from the bottom. When worn properly, there will be strap between your hand and the grip. Use the straps as you climb for increased leverage without a tight grip. On flat sections, you may want to take your hands out of the straps for a freer flowing grip that supports the cadence.
Hard carbide tips bite into the terrain for solid pole plants. Rubber tip protectors are included for use on paved surfaces. Dart baskets are installed as standard and keep the poles from getting caught in cracks between rocks. They can be removed for those wanting to go even lighter. Both small baskets and larger snow baskets are also included. The snow baskets can be installed without removing the small baskets.
Two versions are available – GT and GT-W. The W version is designed for smaller people. The adjustable length and collapsed length are shorter and therefore these poles are lighter weight. And the grips are sized for smaller hands. Otherwise, the W version is the same as GT.
